in·ten·tion (n-tnshn)
n. A course of action that one intends to follow.
I’ve been Soul Searching; at best a messy expedition that involves a 1000-watt headlamp, chisel hammer and heavy-duty mining shovel designed to unveil what’s really at my core. I’ve been systematically chipping away at my Self layer by layer, exhuming worthless piles of resentments amidst pockets of hidden gems patiently waiting for me to shine them up and share them with the world.
The Search is at once enlightening, exciting and painful. Because when I sit down and take my mandatory 15-minute rest period to review what I’ve dredged up, I don’t always like what I’ve unearthed.
Last week’s mining session left me standing in a wide chasm with my intentions proudly poised on one side and my behavior wobbling on the other.
In an instant, the indescribable hollowness I’d been feeling for quite sometime suddenly made perfect sense: I wasn’t living in alignment with my heart’s intentions.
In all fairness to my Self (to which I’ve mastered the Art of Deprecation), I will say I’ve done okay despite my unhealthy detours in love and life. Staying in alignment with what we innately know is the right path is easier said than done. It takes conscious effort and a true knowledge of who we are and who we want to be.
I believe we intuitively know what’s right for us; Sometimes, though, it takes a headlamp, chisel hammer and shovel to remind us.
Are you living your intention?
